Just as the scriptures say, we are like little children in
many ways. No matter how educated any of
us become, there will always be some area that we do not fully understand. We do not know all of God’s works and
wonders; we also do not know what details are in His plans for our lives. Utilizing our faith to follow the promptings
we receive likens us to a little child by allowing ourselves to be guided
without knowing beforehand exactly where we are going. Another prime example of how we are like
little children is in our endurance.
There are times that we begin to crumble under the pressure of our daily
lives and need to rely on our Father just as a child does their parents. Heavenly Father, understanding this, gave us
several promises that he will help us by increasing our understanding, guiding
us through inspiration, and blessing us for our diligence to name a few.
There are several ways in which we have been asked to become
like little children. The first area we
should slough off is succumbing to natural man that lives to satiate our carnal
pleasures. As we do this, we will draw
closer to God. We must also utilize our
faith in the Atonement and we will increase our abilities to be submissive,
meek, humble, patient, full of love, and to be willing to submit to the Lord in
all things.
