I learned that in the parable of the unjust steward from
Luke 16:1-12 that during the last portion of his stewardship that he was trying
to gain friendship to have in his near future.
He used his post and master’s finances to give relief to the debtors.
Also, while studying Luke 16:19-31 I learned that in the
Spirit World that the great gulf between Abraham’s bosom (Paradise) and Hell
(Spirit Prison) was bridged. This bridge
allows those that are in Hell to be taught the gospel and be given the
opportunity to repent, and to those that were never taught the gospel-to accept
it for the first time.
While in Luke 17:11-19 the ten lepers were sent to see the
priests to be declared clean and given permission to reenter society. Although ten lepers were sent to see the
priests only one returned to give thanks and he was a Samaritan. This was further proof to the apostles that
the Jews were not a superior race and that all were accepted in the gospel.
The widow who beleaguered the wicked judge in Luke 18:1-8
was finally heard and given help after the judge decided it would be beneficial
to himself to take care of her issue, so that he no longer had to deal with
her. Jesus gave this parable to tell the
world that even a wicked man can give good gifts, but He is great and will
always give good gifts without His hand being forced. Jesus also gave the parable of the Pharisee
and the Publican (Luke 18:9-14). In this
He wanted to show us that regardless of who we are there is always the
possibility that we may become self-righteous and self-complacent.
