The Beatitudes

After having read commentary on the Beatitudes in the New Testament I learned what to be blessed means.  I learned that its meaning is more than happiness.  It refers to an inner fountain of joy that keeps flowing and is not dependent on outside sources unlike that of happiness. I have included a few of the beatitudes that mean the most to me.

1-Blessed are the Meek: I understand that a meek individual is a person who maintains his convictions regardless of the outcome.  This individual also has control over his passions.  I would say that my biggest weakness is patience.  I tend to lose my restraint easily regardless of the situation.  I don’t like to wait until the meal is done to eat (I snitch and then lose my appetite) and I lose my temper quickly.

2-Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness.:  I love the gospel and what I learn when I truly put all of my heart into searching for more truth.  I know that this principle has blessed my life when I have applied it.  I have used it to find answers in my life when I really needed them and I have also found answers to questions that I didn’t even know I had beforehand.

3-Blessed are the Peacemakers: My husband is a Peacemaker.  His first concern is for the welfare of others, regardless of who they are.  He never intentionally acts in a way that is selfish and might hurt others.  He has been a huge blessing in my life as a stalwart example and as one who loves helping others.
